kouki tails and ganador mirrors will make any s13 fastback at least x10 awesomer. but if you pick up used kouki tails (because you don't want to spend $400-500 on a new set), you might be missing sockets/bulbs. i google'd for a fix and the best solution i found was "buy them from rhdjapan.com. 2 sockets for $40.". so if you're missing all of the sockets -> 8 sockets -> $160: mmm no thnx. i'm making this post because there doesn't seem to be very much info about kouki tails on the internet.
The 7440 & 7443 light sockets out of an Acura RSX, 02 and up accord, and 02 and up civic work perfect!!! If you want them from the dealer Honda's PN for them is 33515-S50-003 my roommate has a rsx. and an extra set of busted tails from an accident. so i grabbed his sockets. but i had to modify them a little bit to fit. (IMG:http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b122/vsp3c/koukitails.gif) (IMG:http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b122/vsp3c/koukitails2-1.gif) rsx 7440 socket won't fit in the rsx 7443 hole and vise versa. trimmed 7440 and 7443 sockets will fit both 7440 and 7443 holes of kouki tails (holes are the same). 7443 sockets/bulbs are used for parking light/brake light. 7440 sockets/bulbs are used for turn signal/reverse light. 7440 bulbs can be used in a 7443 socket, 7443 bulbs cannot be used in a 7440 socket (you can use 7443 bulb in 7440 socket for turn signal / reverse light if you want. but you can't use this combination for parking light / brake light.). (IMG:http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b122/vsp3c/koukitails2.jpg) now i need to find plugs for these sockets so i can wire them up -__- This post has been edited by Jeong: Dec 20 2008, 02:37 AM |

I'll let you know how they work out |

No problem. I'm hopefully hitting the junkyards tommorow I'll keep an eye out for ya if you like. First I gotta find a place nearby that recycles catalytic converters. That kid thought I was being nice replacing his exhaust manifold for free (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

I ended up going back to the junk yard after bought the honda ones I first tried and found that ones off of a 1999 mazda 626 work without trimming and they have a pigtail already. It has to be a 99 and up though because from what I found the 1998 and lower were 1157 sockets (=no fit). Sorry about that mis information (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Good thing is each 626 you find is good for 4 sockets or you can find them on ebay for 5 bucks shipped. As far as using the 7440 bulbs with the 7443 sockets (or single filament ones) all you need is a dremel.

You should figure out how to do this to your tails Jeong vvvvv
(IMG:http://clearcorners.com/products/nissan/240sx1/r_hbtail/Image15.jpg) Illuminated (IMG:http://clearcorners.com/products/nissan/240sx1/r_hbtail/Image16.jpg) Parking+Brake Lamps (IMG:http://clearcorners.com/products/nissan/240sx1/r_hbtail/Image22.jpg) The factory J-spec tail lamps are professionally disassembled and modified to house various different LED arrays. The internal bezels are available in various finishes: bright silver, gun-metal grey, or matte-black. The parking lamp function is now handled by dual LED rings that wrap around the two main circular chambers. The two rings consist of over 300 wide-angle high-intensity LEDs which also vary in brightness. In parking lamp mode, the rings have a crisp glow that illuminates both chambers. When the brakes are applied, the rings increase in brightness in conjunction with the main center clusters. Each tail light consists of approximately 400 very bright and highly visible LEDs. This upgrade is often referred to as the holy grail of tail lights for the S13-chassis and is said to resemble a jet engine's afterburner. Beats paying this for em JDM 180SX Rear Kouki Tail Light Kit (JDM180SXTLED). . . . $1825.00 USD* (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) |

yeah...clear corners have been around for a long time. and i've considered it...NEVER. $1800 for tail lights makes no sense to me. and it shouldn't make sense to anyone.
